Tennis, boys
Boys Tennis begins at the end of March and finishes sometime in June, depending on the strength of the team. We usually have 3 teams, a Varsity (12 members), Junior Varsity (20) and C Team (20). Numbers will vary from year to year. We do not cut.
We expect athletes to come to practice, work hard on and off the court, demonstrate a positive attitude and respect for teammates, coaches, teachers and opponents.
All Varsity players will be awarded a letter at the end of the year. Seniors who have not made the Varsity may also be awarded a letter if recommended by the coaching staff.
We want all players, coaches and parents to represent Centennial in a positive light.
Centennial High School is excited to welcome Joe Manson as the new varsity boys’ tennis head coach.
“Coach Joe Manson brings an abundance of coaching experience with him as he takes on this new role. In addition, his coaching philosophy aligns with the Centennial School District vision and mission,” says Matt St. Martin, Centennial High School Director of Athletics and Activities. “Joe believes that the values learned from participating in education based athletics allow student-athletes to grow as individuals.”
Most recently, Joe served as the assistant coach for the Centennial High School Boys’ Tennis program in 2026. Additionally, Joe works for Tenicity where he provides tennis lessons for community education based programs as well as providing group and private lessons in the Twin Cities Metro Area.
Manson stated, “ looking forward to my new role as the Head Coach of the Centennial High School Boys Tennis program, we will continue growing as a program. I want to help the young men on the team find a passion for the lifelong game of tennis. I look forward to building a team filled with players that understand that competition is more about personal growth as a player/person than just wins and losses. I hope to help players find belief in themselves to commit to practice or a match with full conviction and leave the judgement of their performance till after the practice or match. Players are meant to play, not judge themselves after every shot. There is always another ball to hit.”
