Centennial High School welcomes Nicole Christensen as the new varsity volleyball head coach

“Nicole Christensen brings a wealth of coaching experience with her, but more importantly, her coaching philosophy aligns with the Centennial School District vision and mission,” says Matt St. Martin, Centennial High School Director of Athletics and Activities. “Nicole believes that the values learned from participating in education-based athletics provides student-athletes with the opportunities to grow as individuals on and off the volleyball court.” 

Christensen comes to Centennial High School with 17 years of experience coaching volleyball at various levels of play. Christensen began her coaching career at the age of 17.  Her coaching experience includes three years during college with Sky High Volleyball in Norwood Young America, followed by nine years as the B-squad head coach and varsity assistant for Forest Lake High School. Most recently, Nicole has served as an assistant coach and eventually the head coach at Anoka-Ramsey Community College.

During the club season, Christensen has coached with the Lakes program as head coach for 12U-18U teams. 

Christensen is from Forest Lake where she was a three-year letter winner in volleyball as a libero and set the school record for career digs.  She was also on the varsity Alpine Skiing and Golf teams, appearing in the Minnesota State High School League Golf State Tournament.  Christensen attended Gustavus Adolphus College where she double majored in Studio Art and Alternative Therapy and received a minor in coaching while also being a member of the Women's Golf team. Additionally, she has served as the coaching advisor for the Forest Lake - Lakes Volleyball Association.

Christensen stated "I'm very excited to be joining this successful program and to continue to build on the already strong foundation. My heart lies in youth development and I can't wait to share my passion with this community."

Our volleyball programs strives to offers competitive play at all 5 levels, Varsity, JV, B-squad, 9A and 9B. Teams will be comprised of the best players from 7th-12 grade.

Due to the volume of players that have traditionally tried out, cuts are inevitable. Players should expect to either practice or play every Monday-Friday with a few tournaments on Saturday’s.
