Centennial High School welcomes Michael Diggins as the New Varsity Football Head Coach.

Michael Diggins has been named the next head coach to lead the Centennial High School Football program. “Michael brings over 7 years of football coaching experience with him, but more importantly, his coaching philosophy aligns with the Centennial School District Mission and Vision,” says Matt St. Martin, Centennial High School Director of Athletics and Activities. “Michael believes that the values learned from participating in education based athletics allow student-athletes to grow as individuals.” 

Most recently, Diggins served as the Defensive Coordinator for the Centennial High School Football program. Diggins stated, "I am proud and excited to serve the Centennial Football Program as Head Football Coach. Growing up in this community and returning in 2019 to work alongside an outstanding coaching staff under the leadership of Mike Diggins has been incredibly meaningful, as this program has become one of the most respected in the metro.”

In addition to Michael’s strong coaching background, he is also a committed educator in the classroom, serving as the chair for the Health Department at Centennial High School. He has also built the Cougar Strength programming to a thriving after-school program for Centennial High School students. Michael also holds the position of Director of Youth Services with the Minnesota Football Coaches Association. 

Diggins also stated, “Our coaching staff will continue to support and challenge our student-athletes while building on the strong foundation created by our players, families, and community, becoming the head coach at Centennial is an exciting next step for me, not just professionally but personally.”

 

2023 Class 6A State Football Champions

Mike Diggins has been named Randy Shaver Metro Coach of the Year & Minnesota Vikings High School Coach of the Year!

The Centennial High School football program is for students registered in grades 9-12. The season begins in mid-August and runs through the state tournament in late November. Centennial High School football typically offers five levels of play (9A, 9B, B-squad, JV, Varsity) each season. Participation will always determine the final levels of play. 

Understanding the Cougar Family (team) can only progress with the presence of LOVE and RESPECT; we commit ourselves to reaching our full potential.  We know that every action must be with the TEAM in mind, and unwavering loyalty to the TEAM must be built in, especially during the tough times. We know that we “will get as our work deserves.”

We are committed to growing mentally and physically, and we recognize that we are students first and athletes second.  We will personify CLASS and HUMILITY on and off the field.

We seek to get better every day and develop consistency through the relentless execution of fundamentals.  We will always compete with the best to become the best.  We will play with passion and strive to be District Champions.  We realize this can only be accomplished by extraordinary FOCUS, one step at a time.

We will respect the proud tradition of Centennial Football of the past and will provide further greatness and tradition for the future.  We will do so, at all times, knowing that it is our responsibility to serve as positive role-models for the youth of our community.  WE WILL BE THE CLASS OF MINNESOTA FOOTBALL.
